Marc Marquez returned to his winning ways after a battle at the front with Fabio Quartararo denying the Frenchman a win on home soil. With the win, Marquez became the first MotoGP rider to achieve 6 consecutive Sprint race wins. After the race he said, “I’m happy. The feeling aboard the bike is always very positive and, step by step, I’m improving some more. I felt good today: I was patient enough and took my time in the first two-three laps, when it looked like Quartararo was pulling away, and this was a moment of the race in which it was key to manage tire wear the best way. The important thing was to stay right up there without making any mistake, in a race that was characterized by very strong lap-times and frenetic pace.”

His teammate Francesco Bagnaia crashed out of the race; thwarting his opportunity to score points early in the weekend. Alex Marquez returned to the podium with more consistency after finishing P2 again in the sprint. Despite winning the Spanish Grand Prix, Alex Marquez wasn’t able to keep the top spot. As a result Marc Marquez retook the championship lead after the sprint by 2 points.

Ahead of the grand prix Marc Marquez is looking to create some space between himself and the pack in the championship race. Thus far this season he’s only lost out on points due to his own mistakes. Its clear Marc Marquez still has the best overall pace and heading into the French Grand we expect he will continue his surge.
