Peter Hickman denies Michael Dunlop the opportunity to extend his overall TT win count to 26 TT wins. Hickman won the final race of the Isle of Man TT, Senior TT. Hickman won by a commanding margin of 20 seconds. Behind Hickman finished Dean Harrison who did not secure a win this year in the TT but was able to secure a number of podium finishes as a consolation. Hickman took the lead on his way to Ballaugh Bridge, setting the first ever sub-three minute sector time. The win marked his 13th TT win and 4th in the 2023 Isle of Man TT. With racing now over Hickman will walk away as the final winner of the competition.
The 2023 Isle of Man TT races seemed to mainly be a battle between Peter Hickman, Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison. Despite a few mechanical issues these three riders were most commonly fighting for wins. Both Hickman and Dunlop secured 4 wins this campaign. Dunlop will have to wait until 2024 if he wants to extend his legacy and become the most winning TT racer in history. This year the TT seems to have breezed by. With the race finale now complete the riders will pack up and the Isle of Man who’s population ballooned 19% over last years fan turn out will dwindle day by day as normal life returns to the Manx island. We say, “Until next year,” we hope you’ve enjoyed our coverage of the 2023 Isle of Man TT races. Be sure to check out TT+ to relive the coverage of the event.

Peter Hickman completes the double win in Superstock Race 2. The win also marked his 11th career win at the Isle of Man TT. Hickman had another dominant performance denying Michael Dunlop a record setting win in Superstock and Supertwins race 2 which he also won to secure his 12th TT victory. With one day to go until the Isle of Man final race Michael Dunlop still sits in queue behind his uncle for the all time Isle of Man TT wins record. Hickman set the outright lap record in the superstock race with a blistering final lap speed of 136.358mph.
In superstock race 2 Michael Dunlop took second with Dean Harrison finishing in third. In Super twin race 2 Michael Dunlop did not finish the Supertwins race after a mechanical failure eliminated any opportunity of going the full race distance. This is now two opportunities Dunlop has missed to secure his desired 26th TT win. Dunlop will have one opportunity in the TT Senior Race to extend his legacy in 2023.

In unforgiving fashion Michael Dunlop is on a tear at the 2023 Isle of Man TT. Michael Dunlop wins again in the Isle of Man Supersport TT Race 2 to secure his 25th career win. The win leaves him one away from typing his uncle Joey Dunlop’s all time win record of 26 wins. This victory is his 4th this year. His next opportunity to extend his number of wins will be on Friday when he competes in the second Superstock and Supertwin races. Peter Hickman and Dean Harrison continue to round out top 3 finishes. The in also came with news that Dunlop topped 130mph on a 600cc/Supersport machine; a feat no other rider has accomplished in the class. Hickman ended up 9.6s behind Michael Dunlop at the finish. STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE ISLE OF MAN TT RACES
With great sadness, the Isle of Man TT Races can confirm that Raul Torras Martinez, 46, from Sant Hilari Sacalm, Spain, was killed in an accident during the first Supertwin Race of the 2023 Isle of Man TT Races. The accident occurred at Alpine, between the 16th and 17th mile markers, on the third and final lap of the race.
Raul was an experienced TT competitor who made his debut in 2017, with a best result of 15th in last year’s Supertwin Race. He recorded his fastest ever lap of the TT Mountain Course earlier today in the Superstock Race, with a lap at an average speed of 125.470mph whilst securing a 20th-place finish. Raul was the fastest Spaniard ever to have lapped the TT Course. In total, Raul competed in 21 TT races and his performances earned him a total of 18 Bronze Replicas. The Isle of Man TT Races pass on their deepest sympathy to Raul’s family, friends, and loved ones.
Michael Dunlop became the second most winning TT rider today with his Supertwin TT win. Dunlop was never really in any danger of losing this race. On the first lap he had already built of a substantial 14.3 second lead ahead of Jamie Coward. Dunlop would continue to extend that lead to 23.6s on lap two and ultimately finished 27.6 second ahead of Michael Browne. Dunlop said: “The bike was incredible, and I was fortunate enough to have a lead where I could calm the bike down and see it home. The bike was a dream. We made a few changes, and I can’t complain.”

Peter Hickman Capitalizes in RL360 Superstock TT Race
Peter Hickman secured his 10th Isle of Man TT win today in the RL360 Superstock TT race. The win came in commanding fashion as Hickman won the competition by 23.17 seconds. The feat was also his 4th consecutive superstock win. Dean Harrison led into Balluagh Bridge but Hickman was able to flip his deficit in to a 2.2s lead. As the riders approached Sulby Speedtrap Michael Dunlop was leading the race but by the time the riders hit the Ramsay Hairpin Hickman took the lead and would continue to extend his lead on lap 2.
The majority of his advantage was secured in the pits after lap 1. Dunlop had a slower (37.915 s) pit stop which allowed Hickman (36.089s pit stop) to make up one second on the exit in addition to the advantage he had coming into the pits. Dunlop showed promise by cutting into Hickman’s lead early on lap 2 but by the time the riders reach Ramsay hairpin again Hickman was already 9.1 seconds ahead. A lead that he would further extend for the rest of the race. Hickman had the potential to set the class lap record but a celebratory wheelie saw him lose time. When asked after the race Hickman stated, “Lap records are a nice cherry on top but race wins are what counts.”
On day two of racing Michael Dunlop beat out Peter Hickman and Dean Harrison to win Superbike race 1. All three riders were favorited to win Superbike TT race 1. However, Dunlop capitalized on his experience and flying hot lap times and set a scorching 133.910 mph lap. While not the fastest lap of the race Dunlop led second place finished Peter Hickman by 8.233 seconds. Hickman had the fastest lap but was not able to stay consistent with that pace and eventually fell back to Dunlop. It appeared that Hickman had throttle issues during the race which may have contributed to his inconsistent pace.
Dean Harrison finished 3rd and was not able to match the pace of Dunlop and Hickman. Two riders registered but did not start the race. There were 10 retirements from the race. With the win Dunlop secures his 23rd TT win. He is currently registered to participate in more races this weekend so he has the opportunity to extend this feat.
